Comprehensive Deep Retrofit
An award-winning, comprehensive deep retrofit of a draughty 1920s family home, transformed into a highly efficient, future-ready property without sacrificing its traditional character. The project followed a warm core strategy, focusing on upgrading the central part of the house with advanced energy-saving measures. Works included airtight construction, enhanced insulation, solar PV with battery storage, an air source heat pump, and underfloor heating throughout. These interventions delivered a 70% reduction in carbon emissions, lifting the home’s EPC rating from G to C and creating a comfortable, year-round family home. Delivered under tight deadlines and challenging weather conditions, the project’s technical ingenuity and sustainable execution led to winning the FMB Regional Sustainable Building Award — celebrated in Specifier Review for its pioneering retrofit approach.
19th Century Cottage Complete Remodel
A once-failing 19th-century cottage requiring a full structural rethink. With no damp proofing to the party wall and compromised structural integrity throughout, the project began with stabilisation and remediation before being completely reimagined. The works included a side and rear extension alongside a full remodel, with modern eco technologies and fabric-first upgrades integrated throughout. These included external wall insulation and solar PV, alongside MVHR ventilation, an air source heat pump, and underfloor heating—transforming a deteriorating property into a comfortable, energy-efficient home built for modern living.
Three Bed Remodel & Garage Conversion
A full internal remodel alongside the conversion of an existing garage, enhancing and reconfiguring an already three-bedroom home. Finished to a luxury standard, the transformation includes a stunning bespoke oak single spine staircase, creating a standout feature at the heart of the property. The project presented its challenges, including evolving requirements and clients living abroad, requiring clear communication and flexible, well-coordinated project management throughout. Despite the moving goalposts, the result is a cohesive, high-quality transformation that maximises space, functionality, and long-term livability.
Rear Vaulted Extension
A rear vaulted extension designed to create a bright, open-plan living space, bringing light and volume into the heart of the home. The project was technically demanding, requiring a complex steel frame installation and the temporary propping of an entire corner of the building during the construction phase. Fibre cement cladding was selected for its strong fire safety credentials and sustainable performance, offering limited combustibility and a durable, low-maintenance finish with a low CO₂ footprint. Careful planning and precise execution resulted in a seamless extension that feels both bold and naturally integrated with the existing structure.
Kitchen and Living Space Remodel
A full kitchen and living space remodel within a four-bedroom detached home, designed to create a bright, open-plan layout ideal for modern family living and entertaining. By opening up the space between the kitchen and dining area, the home gained improved flow, functionality, and a more connected feel throughout the main living spaces. The project required careful management due to historic legacy issues from previous works, alongside ongoing delays and errors from the kitchen supplier. Despite these challenges, the transformation was delivered with a focus on quality finishes, clear coordination, and a seamless final result.
